Celestial Blaze
We started our hike to this beach around 10pm. It took us around 3hrs to reach the beach from our little cabin. Although it is hard to schedule long hikes like this in the dark we were very lucky with the weather forecast. Around midnight the sky started to clear up in the west which was roughly the direction we wanted to shot. Immediately as we reached the end of the last slope the northern lights exploded. This intensity lasted for about 20minutes and I reckon it was somewhere between kp5-6 – so we were right on time! A tough hike turned out great, we couldnt ask for more. I really like this image and the composition I was able to find in the dark. Due to the strong northern lights I was able to get a good exposed foreground.
