Fire in the Sky

Such an unreal sight. Behind Victoria Falls one has a great view across the Zambesi river and of the steam and spray rising from the gorge. After plunging down about 100m, the spray rises 250m in the sky. The sheer force of the Zambesi, which generates 108 mega watts is beyond comprehension. At sunset, for a brief moment, maybe 2 minutes if I recall correctly, the spray is hit by the setting sun over the Zimbabwean hills. What an amazing vista and probably one of those images which appeal more to people who actually experienced this, than people seeing it ‘only’ online.

Unglaubliches Schauspiel zum Sonnenuntergang an den Victoria Wasserfällen in Sambia. Die Kraft der Wasserfälle wird besonders daran deutlich, dass die Gischt ca. 200m in die Höhe steigt, nachdem sie ca. 100m in die Tiefen der Schlucht der Victoria Falls gestürzt ist. Zum Sonnenuntergang färbt sich dann die Gischt für wenige Minuten durch das Sonnenlicht ein.
