About me
I am (mainly) a landscape photographer drawn to remote places and quiet moments in nature. My work focuses on capturing the atmosphere and character of landscapes rather than simply documenting them.
Photography, for me, is about spending time in places where WIFI is weak — often returning to the same locations again and again — waiting for those brief moments when light, weather and land come together to reveal something special.
Over the past eight years I have lived and worked abroad, primarily in Africa, spending extended time in Zambia, Ethiopia and Namibia, while also working in Kenya and South Africa. Living in these places shaped the way I experience landscapes and approach photography. From the escarpments of the Ethiopian highlands to the desert light of Namibia and the forests and coasts of East Africa, these environments offered unique opportunities to explore and photograph some of the most remarkable natural scenery on the continent.
Many photographers will tell you that photography is all about the light — and in many ways, they are right. Light shapes the mood, the texture, and ultimately the story within an image. Yet spending long periods of time photographing across Africa and in various parts of Asia has taught me that light in these regions behaves differently from what many photographers are accustomed to in the northern hemisphere. Here, it changes and disappears quickly, often far more abruptly, making it both fleeting and challenging to capture.
This reality has shaped the way I approach photography. Rather than relying only on the traditional “golden hours” around sunrise and sunset, it often means adapting — learning to work with the light that exists throughout the day, and responding to the landscape as it unfolds.
Through my work, I try to create images that convey the experience of being present in these places: the quiet of a mountain at sunrise, the restless movement of clouds gathering before a storm, or the deep stillness of a remote valley far from roads and cities. My hope is that each photograph carries a sense of that moment — not just how the landscape looked, but how it felt to stand there.
